What is Autism?

Hiyed CIC

Autism, formally known as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts socially, and experiences the world around them.

The term "spectrum" reflects the wide variation in how autism presents, with each individual having a unique combination of strengths, challenges, and needs.

What Does Neurodiversity Mean?

Hiyed CIC

Neurodiversity is the concept that there is natural variation in how people’s brains work, and that there is no single "correct" way for the brain to function. It is an umbrella term used to describe neurological differences that diverge from the dominant societal standards of "normal," including conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and others.
